Fort Myers Technical College (FMTC) is recognized as a leading provider of career and technical education. FMTC provides ‘Real Skills for Real Careers.” Our employer-driven career education is sought after by student s in need of job training or looking to enhance their skills for career advancement. Students train for secure, high-paying careers and nationally-recognized industry certifications. A typical full-time day for a workforce education adult student is six hours per day, thirty hours per week.
Fort Myers Technical College prepares students for various careers and provides programs of study ranging in length from a couple months to a year or more. Graduates can earn future college credits in most FMTC career certificate programs of study, as well as valuable work-related experience in their field of study.
The awarding of a Certificate of Completion is governed by the Florida Department of Education and is based on successful completion of the requirements of the program, including applicable state basic skill requirements. Instructors use a variety of specific competency-based examinations and performance criteria to determine program completion.
FMTC provides students with industry-standard technology and equipment in all classrooms and labs. Our instructors are licensed and certified teaching professionals.
All of our programs meet the rigorous requirements of the Council on Occupational Education (COE) and the Florida Department of Education, and allow students to become ‘career ready’ in a short period of time. ‘A Career in a Year’ – most of FMTC’s programs may be completed in a year or less.

Please bring the results of your self-assessments with you to meet with the admission specialist who will review them with you and relate them to FMTC program offerings.
A unique strength of FMTC is the close working relationship the school has with area employers. This allows FMTC to deliver exactly what industry professionals are looking for in new employees. Over 75 business leaders serve on program advisory committees. These partnerships allow FMTC to meet the ever-changing need for workforce training in new and emerging industries.
