How much will it cost?
Tuition and fees vary for Florida residents and non-Florida residents. Please view our Program Summary Information Spring 2024 for general information. You can also learn more about how to pay for your technical education by visiting our financial aid page.
All career and technical programs have additional fees for lab supplies. In addition, there may be a charge for books and tools. Please refer to your specific program for any extra costs that may be incurred.
What is Cost of Attendance?
Education is an important investment. In order to offer aid, a school must first establish a Cost of Attendance (COA) for an academic year. FMTC estimates a reasonable budget of student expenses utilizing US Department of Education guidelines; these expenses, along with information from the FAFSA, are used to determine a student’s financial need. They represent the maximum amount of financial aid that students may receive from all sources, i.e. Pell Grant, State Aid, Scholarships, etc.
The COA is constructed based on seven components designated by federal regulations: tuition and fees, books and supplies, licensure/certification fees, housing, food, transportation fees, and personal expenses. Because these are averaged costs, students may find that their overall costs are more or less depending on their actual program costs and living arrangements.
2024-2025 FMTC Cost of Attendance
Educational Expenses | Dependent Student | Independent Student |
Tuition and Fees | $4,580 | $4,580 |
Books and Supplies | $435 | $435 |
License/Certification Fee | $226 | $226 |
Housing | $4,400 | $17,688 |
Food | $2,000 | $3,015 |
Transportation | $3,200 | $3,200 |
Personal Expenses | $1,159 | $1,856 |
Total COA | $16,000 | $31,000 |
Educational expenses can be categorized as either direct costs or indirect costs. Expenses students pay directly to FMTC such as tuition, fees, books, and supplies, are considered direct billable costs. Anything not paid directly to FMTC is called an indirect non-billable cost, such as housing, food, and transportation expenses.
Money-back Guarantee Program
HB 1507 creates s. 1011.803, F.S., to require each school district and FCS institution to create a money-back guarantee program, for a minimum of three programs, that will refund tuition to students who are unable to find employment in their field of study within six months of completion of certain workforce education programs.
